We Are Moving Forward . . .

“For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die . . .” — Ecclesiastes 3:1–2

The beginning of the year 2021 for the Tabelisma family was a mixture of sadness and joy. The passing of Eben's dad in the Philippines on January 21st was a reminder that life here on earth is short and only what is done for Christ will last. The legacy that he left was a life of faithfulness. He served our God until his last breath. We are grateful to God for the American missionary who discipled and helped establish (Ernesto) in his faith. The fruitfulness and faithfulness of Dr. Wherman’s missionary work carries on in many ways including the many churches where Ernesto Tabelisma pastored for many years and through our own work at A Buck a Day, the story of which was shared from this video.

From the Mission Field:

ABAD continues its work to raise more missionaries in the field. With our established relationship with Pastor Haron Adrian who leads the Reach Himalaya Ministries, Inc. in Nepal, we are able to partner with them in their strategic focus of equipping local missionaries. Raising missionaries from within their communities effectively ensures that those trained to reach out can easily assimilate because they are very familiar with the culture even if they will need to travel to a different region within the country. One of the practical ways we support them is through the missionary travel kits they provide.

In the Philippines:

Edwin Ryan and Chel Ann Villagomez are the campus missionaries supported by ABAD. They lead the NextGen Ministry in the region of Bicol reaching out to hundreds of young people ages 12 and up. My wife, Malou, had the privilege of sharing with their young women leaders about the topic of becoming the best version of themselves according to how God created each one. She answered the basic question of, “What would I have wanted to have been taught when I was about their age?” From this question sprang the “Kwentong Girls Lang” talk where she shared the following 5 start-up points:

  • Be Somebody’s Better Story.

  • Always Remember You Have Worth.

  • You Were Created to Please God and No Other.

  • Communicate Wisely with Love.

  • Is There Such a Thing As Forever?

They started off with a Zoom meeting of 22 participants followed up with a live broadcast a week later.

In Thailand:

We were able to bless the missionaries by sponsoring their Thanksgiving dinner during their annual strategic plan for 2021.

"No higher honor could be imagined than to be an instrument in the hand of Jesus Christ, to be at his disposal for the furtherance of his purposes, to be available whenever wanted for his service." (John Stott, a 20th century theologian)
