ABAD Quarterly Watch — Q3 2026

Go Make Disciples!
This year marks seven years of A Buck a Day. Though we started small, I believe God can use our simple act of obedience to accomplish great things for His glory. As Zechariah 4:10a (NLT) reminds us,
“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.”
Over these seven years, A Buck a Day has helped support 25 cross-cultural missionaries serving in India, Laos, Nepal, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. Through the simple act of giving a buck a day, believers are helping advance the gospel and build up Christ’s Kingdom.
As we look forward, we pray that God will continue to open doors for us to minister in more countries, increase mission funding, deepen a mission-minded culture in churches and ministries, and raise up more workers for the harvest.
Thank you for your prayers and faithful partnership. Together, we can make an eternal impact in this generation and those to come.
May the Lord richly bless you always,
Eben Tabelisma
Cofounder, A Buck a Day
MISSIONARIES IN HISTORY
Henry Gerhard Appenzeller (1858–1902) was born in Souderton, Pennsylvania, into a Pennsylvania Dutch (German-Swiss) farming family. After a conversion experience during a revival, he joined the Methodist Church and became the first Methodist missionary to Korea, arriving in 1885 as part of a small group of Americans who introduced Protestant Christianity.
He is remembered for three lasting contributions:
Paichai Handing: Also known as the Hall for the Rearing of Useful Men, was founded in 1885–1886 as Korea’s first Western-style boys’ school. It later became Pai Chai University and other related schools.
Chongdong First Methodist Church: Originally Bethel Chapel, it was the first Methodist congregation in Seoul, where Appenzeller serves as pastor from 1887 until his death.
Bible translation and publishing: He helped translate Scripture, particularly the Gospels of Matthew and Mark and sections of Corinthians. He also founded The Korean Christian Advocate in 1897, Korea’s first Christian newspaper, and helped establish Methodist publishing work.
During his seventeen years in Korea, Appenzeller’s ministry helped lay important foundations for Korean Methodism and modern education in the country. The Korean Methodist Church later became an independent denomination and is now one of the largest Methodist bodies in the world.
We’re grateful for these missionaries, past and present, who faithfully serve day by day and trust God to use their lives to reach the unreached and advance His Kingdom.

MISSIONARIES IN THE FIELD
Grateful for Your Generosity
Jeff and his family were among the first missionaries supported by A Buck a Day and have been part of our ministry for the past seven years. Through the faithfulness and generosity of our partners, Jeff and his team continue to serve in Thailand and neighboring nations.
Pray for Nepal
On August 26, a devastating flash flood struck the Rasuwa district of Nepal. A surge of ice, rock, mud, and water swept downstream, hitting the area especially hard. The situation remains critical, with many people still missing.
Our mission partner, RHMI, ministers in this region. Native missionaries supported by A Buck a Day have spent years walking into these very valleys, building trust within villages, and planting small churches among people no one else could reach. Several of these missionaries remain unaccounted for.
We appreciate your prayers during this heartbreaking time and ask that you please continue to pray for all those affected—especially those who are missing, their families, and the rescue teams working to find them.
If you would like to help provide financial support, please give to the disaster relief fund below.
Sustainable Work, Eternal Impact
One of the holistic approaches our missionaries in Thailand use to reach their communities is through livelihood programs. Last month, Sherwin and his team launched a fishery project, providing an opportunity to train Nor Keo, a young missionary from Laos.
Nor Keo has a heart for reaching young people through sustainable projects in P’ Sai (local Thai). Together, their goal is to replicate this project in villages and, eventually, neighboring nations, helping believers develop sustainable livelihoods while creating opportunities to share the gospel.
The Gospel Continues in New Delhi
Prabhat and Amy continue to minister in New Delhi, India. The hunger for God’s Word among the people in this community inspires them and their team to continue advancing God’s Kingdom throughout the city.

ABAD UPDATES
Eben’s Corner
Eben has been connecting with local churches in Nashville to introduce A Buck a Day’s mission and explore ways to integrate the GoMakeDisciples brand into their missions programs. During a recent visit to StoneBridge Bible Church, he met Trevor, one of the church’s leaders, and shared more about the ministry.
We continue to pray for more opportunities like this to connect with churches, establish partnerships, and invite more believers to build up Christ’s Kingdom.

GoMakeDisciples for All Nations
The GoMakeDisciples brand was adopted by Fil-Am Mission International during a mission trip to the Philippines led by Richard. Their organization’s logo is featured in the design.
