You are called to make disciples!

As the United States celebrates its 250th birthday on July 4th, we are reminded of how God has used this nation to advance His kingdom through missionaries sent around the world. While America is not a perfect nation, God has used it to bless many people, my family included.

American missionaries first shared the gospel with my grandmother and discipled her in the faith. That legacy was passed on to my father, then to me, and now continues with my children.

At A Buck a Day, we aim to do the same. Our mission is to help build up Christ’s kingdom by encouraging every believer to go make disciples. Supporting God’s work among unreached people in Asia is a vital part of His global mission.

Your prayers and generosity are making an eternal difference. Thank you for your faithful partnership. Together, we can reach this generation and those yet to come.

May the Lord richly bless you always,

Eben Tabelisma

Cofounder, A Buck a Day

MISSIONARIES IN HISTORY

Adoniram Judson (1788–1850) is one of the most influential cross-cultural American missionaries in history. He and his wife, Ann Judson (1789–1826), were among the first American Protestant missionaries sent overseas. In 1812, they sailed for India but ultimately ended up in Burma (now Myanmar), where they devoted nearly 40 years to sharing the gospel.

Key Contributions

  • Bible Translation: Adoniram translated the Bible into Burmese and created a Burmese-English dictionary.

  • Church Planting: Despite intense opposition and 18 months of imprisonment during the Anglo-Burmese War, he led hundreds of Burmese and Karen people to faith in Christ.

  • Lasting Legacy — Ann faithfully supported the mission until her death and became one of America’s first women missionaries. Together, the Judsons inspired the modern American missions movement and helped shape Baptist foreign missions.

The Judsons remain a powerful example of faith, perseverance, and sacrifice. Their lives continue to inspire and encourage those committed to advancing God’s kingdom, especially those serving in missions today.

MISSIONARIES IN THE FIELD

Lives Transformed by the Gospel

Jeff and his team baptized 19 new believers—Thai locals, Myanmar natives, and Laotians.

A year ago, most had never heard of Jesus and had little interest in knowing Him. Through the Family Ministry, they encountered the gospel, heard the truth, and experienced freedom and transformation through Christ.

Having publicly declared their faith in Jesus, they have chosen to leave their old lives behind and embrace the new life Jesus offers!

Reaching the Next Generation

Sherwin and Chelsea have been blessed with the opportunity to serve a Burmese community in Thailand. Each Saturday, they teach English to local children and share the gospel with them. Just as Jesus invested in the next generation during His earthly ministry, they are faithfully planting seeds of faith in the hearts of these young learners.

Hunger for the Word in Nepal

The hunger for the Word of God in Nepali believers continues to inspire our mission partner, RHMI, to keep advancing God’s kingdom throughout the Himalayan region. We have been supporting native missionaries there for more than six years. Please keep this ministry in your prayers as the gospel advances in Nepal.
