ABAD Quarterly Watch — Q1 2022

Updated: Mar 22

Faith honors God, and God honors faith.

Greetings from our A Buck a Day team!

As we settle into a new year, we are excited and expectant to see God move in miraculous ways through us. We want to be good stewards of the time, money, and resources He has provided, and we wouldn’t be able to do that without partners like you.

We want to give you quarterly updates of what is happening through our organization and with our missionaries in the field. We pray that these stories will encourage you as you see how God continues to move and spread His good news around the world.

We’re grateful for your partnership with us and your heart to fund a global harvest of souls. Thank you for standing and believing with us as we continue to empower every believer to engage in building up Christ’s kingdom.

Blessings,

Eben Tabelisma

Cofounder, A Buck a Day

MISSIONARIES IN HISTORY

Robert Moffat (1795–1883) was a Scottish missionary who ministered in South Africa. He married Mary Smith, a woman who became a role model to other women involved in missions. Despite working faithfully for 10 years in Botswana, they were unable to convert a single soul. Their mission board even questioned them about whether or not they should continue their service. However, they remained faithful. And God honored their faith. As a result of their ministry work, the mission station they established became the major center of missionary activity in South Africa, and Robert translated the Bible into Tswana, also called Setswana, the national language of Botswana. It’s through the encouraging stories of missionaries like Robert and Mary that strengthens our faith to continue to reach the harvest.

MISSIONARIES IN THE FIELD

Miraculous Healing in Thailand

Mae Camla is one of the new believers that Ruby, our missionary in Thailand, ministered to in Chiang Kong, Thailand. Before she came to faith, Mae suffered from goiter problems for about five years. As a result of Ruby’s ministry and through many prayers, God miraculously provided healing. In this video, she declares the goodness of God and her gratefulness for his healing power.

Before and after pictures of Mae Camla in Thailand.

Turning Challenges into Opportunities

Amy, our missionary in India, has been staying in the Philippines due to travel restrictions in India. Despite her absence, her local team continues to minister in Mohali City, Punjab. One of the ways they brought people together was through stitching classes. They turned the challenges of the pandemic into opportunities of ministry and continue to increase their team.

In her province in the Philippines, Amy continues her ministry work in her local church and was able to baptize several new followers of Christ.

Inspiring Report from Nepal

Haron Adrian leads Reach Himalaya Ministries International, which is a missions organization that ABAD supports. Watch this inspiring video full of highlights from their mission trip to the furthest native region of West Nepal last year.

Answered Prayers in Thailand

Sherwin and Chelsea are two missionaries in Thailand that ABAD supports. For months they have been praying for a place to rent where they can gather children, young people, and adults to share God’s love. As an answer to their prayers, God provided them with a house located in the center of their area of ministry.

A Life Lived to the Full

We would like to honor Liezl Bitas for her invaluable contribution in creating the first few videos for A Buck a Day. Liezl passed away in February. We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate and spend time with her. She accomplished so much as she ran a full race to the finish. We love you Liezl!

THANK YOU!

Our goal is to support missionaries’ efforts to reach every nation with the truth of God’s love. Your faithful partnership helps make our mission possible. We greatly appreciate you!

Please stand with us in faith and prayer for the following:

  • For the people and nation of Ukraine.

  • For ABAD to be connected with local churches in Nashville, Tennessee.

  • For the expansion of the GOMakeDisciples store.

  • For the growth and fruitfulness of the missionaries we support as well as the protection of their health as they continue to serve their communities.

  • That ABAD will have more individual and corporate partners in order to support more missionaries.

"No higher honor could be imagined than to be an instrument in the hand of Jesus Christ, to be at his disposal for the furtherance of his purposes, to be available whenever wanted for his service." (John Stott, 20th century theologian)
